"The Black Box Within the White Cube" | Twelve Moments from Chakme's Film The Little Ring
“This exhibition presents a special gallery edition of Chakme’s film The Little Ring, featuring twelve looping video segments, a reconstructed tent from the film, and interventions by multiple contemporary artists. It constructs an immersive dialogue between the cinematic “black box” and the gallery “white cube.” We look forward to welcoming you into this two‑way journey of emotion and reflection.”

The Little Ring is originally an arthouse film. We have adapted it into a special exhibition edition for gallery presentation, which also represents a unique interpretive approach to the film. It is rare for a cinematic work to enter the exhibition space of an art gallery, but what makes this project special is the participation of over a dozen artists who not only perform in the film but also have their artworks deeply integrated into its creation. The purpose of including these artists’ works is to make the film a connective bridge between the gallery and the cinema—a Cinema-Gallery Symbiosis (黑白双幕). The exhibition edition is installed in the gallery space, where film-related events can be held alongside the display of artworks. After watching the film in the cinema, viewers can visit the gallery to explore its details; after experiencing the gallery exhibition, they can return to the cinema to revisit the film, forming a closed-loop, two-way experiential journey. This is our distinctive design—an exploration of the connection between the white cube and the black box: the white cube representing art exhibition spaces such as galleries, museums, and art spaces, and the black box referring to the screen-centered cinema. The two forms of artistic experience merge through this work.
The exhibition’s core space is a replica of the tent from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau featured in the film. Twelve selected video segments are played here in a continuous loop. In this setting, the moving image is not merely viewed—it becomes an immersive “presence.” The audience enters this utterly private domain, physically immersed in its enveloping stillness, and within this atmosphere, turns their gaze inward to contemplate the emotions both on and off the screen.
The exhibition edition features over a dozen key sequences from the film. The selection and presentation of each segment are intentional—closely tied to the plot, enhancing emotional expression, and infused with a humanistic-philosophical mode of thinking. They form an exclusive methodology for interpreting the story. These sequences are carefully crafted by the director. It is precisely this thoughtful and profound creative approach that gives concrete form to the film’s philosophical core, making these moments essential to the exhibition’s interpretation of the artistic works and ideas within the film, as well as the underlying humanistic philosophy.
Synopsis
Shanghai businessman Wu Ming plans to propose to his girlfriend, Jane. At the same time, however, Jane is helping her artist ex-boyfriend, Zhao Yao, prepare an exhibition inspired by the Tibetan region. Suspicion and unease grow in Wu Ming’s heart, leading to conflict between the couple. The planned proposal is suspended in misunderstanding and silence. Days later, Jane decides to travel alone to Tibet for research. Knowing that the sacred plateau is the place Jane yearns for most, Wu Ming joins her, carrying the carefully chosen but undelivered ring—hoping to fulfill the interrupted promise in the landscape she loves most. Yet, a few days later, a different small ring appears on Jane’s finger...

Brú Artist Residency #1
OPEN CALL - Brú Artist Residency in Tibet
Brú is inviting two artists from our membership program to take part in a unique residency that encourages dialogue and creative growth in connection with the region, culture, and people of Nangqên.
The Tsenpo Residency is a new international residency program open to all Brú members located in China's Qinghai Province, in the Kham region of Tibet. It’s mission is to promote the peoples and culture of the Tibetan plateau and connect them to the rest of the world by fostering continuity of local traditions and intellectual heritage, engaging Buddhist philosophy, and advocating for the protection of natural resources and sustainable development.
Based at the site of the Tsenpo Museum - the museum is anchored by a multifunctional space called the "glass cube", a flexible sanctuary space which draws in the surrounding landscape and sky and accommodates all kinds of innovative projects. The Glass Cube embodies the spirit of the residency itself, which is to collide and harmonise different bodies of knowledge and lived experiences in order to create and develop new ways of thinking aligned with its mission.

The Five Elements - Water
Water is the origin of life, a universal solvent, and a profound metaphor for change. It is the element that carves canyons from stone yet yields to the slightest touch. In our contemporary moment, this vital source of existence and renewal faces unprecedented challenges, urging a global reflection on our relationship with the natural world.
The Five Elements - Water is a timely and compelling group exhibition that harnesses the transformative power of art to explore these urgent themes. We are proud to present a unique confluence of international perspectives, bringing together acclaimed artists from China, Türkiye, Germany, and the United Kingdom. This diverse curation creates a rich, cross-cultural dialogue, revealing water not just as a resource, but as a shared cultural touchstone and a collective responsibility. Each artist contributes a distinct voice to a harmonious yet powerful chorus—one that speaks to the fragility, strength, and essential beauty of our planet's most precious element.
Join Brú art & culture Organization and iski (Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration) for an experience that seeks not only to illuminate the critical importance of water but also to flow into the conscience of our community, inspiring reflection, conversation, and a deeper connection to the world we all inhabit.
Culture Dialogue #2
2025 Tourism Promotion Conference: Jiangsu Meets Berlin
Sophie and Timo, the founders of Brú Arts & Culture, were deeply honored to represent Sophie's homeland, Jiangsu, at the conference in Berlin. It was a profound pleasure for them to deliver speeches promoting the unique cultural and travel experiences of the province. Just as their Arts & Culture organization Brú is dedicated to connecting different cultures, they emphasized that the event itself was a sincere handshake and an open invitation.
Culture Dialogue #1
Brú blossomed with the vibrant energy of cultural exchange as we honored the timeless artistry of the Kaftan—a symbol of heritage, beautifully reimagined.
Our space became a dynamic intersection where tradition met innovation, weaving together centuries of craftsmanship with contemporary vision through fabric, artistry, and meaningful dialogue. Guests immersed themselves in a thoughtfully curated showcase that transcended borders, igniting inspiration among artists, collectors, and fashion enthusiasts alike.
This gathering was a true reflection of our mission: to serve as Berlin’s creative hub, where cultural excellence and bold innovation unite.

About Caspian Seal Research and Rehabilitation Center
The Caspian Seal Research and Rehabilitation Centre (CSRRC) was established in 2019 by the Saby Foundation and Central Asian Institute for Ecological Research to protect critically endangered Caspian seals. Located in Aktau, Kazakhstan (33% of the Caspian coastline), the center rehabilitates injured seals, researches habitat threats like pollution and climate change, and monitors seal health. As Kazakhstan’s first modern facility of its kind, it combines advanced technology and expert staff to restore the species.
